"The Ancient Irish Wolf Dog," is left for the author

We hope often to hear from our new friend at Stroud; his composition is full of taste.

The Editor will feel obliged, if known contributors, who purpose favouring him with communications, will intimate their intentions as early in the month as possible, that arrangements may be made for keeping space open for them. As much MS. was received after this Number was made up as would have filled another.

Notices of several Books are unavoidably postponed until next month.

We are flattered by the feeling which prompted the transmission to us of "Observations on certain articles in the Encyclopædia Britannica." Our gratitude is not the less sincere, although we make no public use of the information they convey.

Many articles stand over for consideration, which shall have early attention.

Proof Impressions of all the Plates that have appeared in this Work, are on sale, at 2s. each; or, beautifully coloured, 2s. 6d.

Vols. I. II. and III. of THE SPORTING REVIEW, bound in fancy cloth boards, lettered, may now be had, at all Booksellers', price 16s. 6d. each.
