II. In the principal room of the school-house, on a table covered with a white cloth: a large crucifix, which is afterwards to be hung on the wall or placed in a niche, between two candlesticks with lighted candles. B. FUNCTION. 5. AU being vested they proceed to the church in the following order: (a) School-children preceded by their banner; (b) Chanters;1 (c) Thurifer with censer and boat and an altar-boy carrying the holy water and sprinkle; (d) Subdeacon (cleric) carrying the cross, between the two acolytes bearing their candlesticks with lighted candles; (e) Clergy, followed by the officiant walking between the deacon and subdeacon. During the procession appropriate hymns, the Litany of the Saints, etc., may be sung. I. In the Church. 6. Having arrived in the church, the clergy go to the main altar. The cross-bearer and acolytes stand on the eosDel side, the thurifer and hoh/.Muntpr bearer on the Spiritus} which is continued to the end by the chanters. At the beginning of the second strophe all rise and remain standing to the end of the hymn. 7. After the hymn the following versicles, responses and prayers are sung: V. Kyrie ele"ison. R.
