THIS prophecy relates, it is expressly announced in the introduction, to Judah and Jerusalem. vision" which Isaiah saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem," v. 1. Some commentators, however, as Le Clerc, and Professor Alexander, regard the Christian church as the subject of the prediction in the second verse, "and it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it." "This," Le Clerc says, "is not to be understood literally of the mount of the temple, but of the Christian church, which, as we know, has drawn to itself from the era of Constantine to the present time, so large a share of the cultivated nations, that it has greatly surpassed all other religious societies." And Professor Alexander: "In this verse the prophet sees the church permanently placed in a conspicuous position, so as to be a source of attraction to surrounding nations."
