EUGENE CURRY, M. R. I. A.] Thus the Council do not think it too much to expect that the volumes eventually completed by this Society will contain a complete, satisfactory, and popular explanation of the structure, character, and peculiarities of Irish National Music, an accurate account of its history as far as known (and it reaches back for many centuries), and a Collection which in extent, rarity, and beauty, will surpass anything of the kind ever attempted. The genius and expression of our Music will thus be fixed, and its noblest stores preserved for the admiration of future ages, and the perpetual pride of the Irish race.

The remaining Part of the First Volume, completing the first of DR. PETRIE'S Collection, is now prepared, and will be proceeded with without delay. Persons desirous to secure copies are requested to forward their subscriptions (£1) to the Honorary Treasurer, ROBERT CAllwell, M. R. I.A., 10, Bachelor's Walk, Dublin, or to pay them to him, through either of the Honorary Secretaries, or through Mr. EDWARD CLIbborn, at the Royal Irish Academy, Dawson-street, who has kindly consented to receive Subscriptions, and further the objects of the Society in every way.

Members, in sending their subscriptions, are requested to say whether they wish to take their books in Volumes at the end of the year, or in Parts (containing each a few sheets, as printed, but made up in a stout cover, so as to protect them for binding at the end of the year).

The Two Parts now issued comprise Twelve Sheets (pp, 1 to 96), and form the First Half of the First Volume.

A Third Part, comprising Six additional Sheets (pp. 97 to 144), will be issued immediately.

These Parts may be had of the Several Agents, or from the Honorary Treasurer or Secretaries, by any of whom Subscriptions (£1 per annum) will be received.

Every Subscriber is entitled to One Entire Volume in return for each Subscription of £1.

Much unavoidable delay has occurred in the issue of the first portions of the work; but the Society's arrangements for printing and publishing being now in an efficient and satisfactory condition, no unnecessary time will be lost henceforward in the completion of the Petrie Collection.
