an heir of God, having God for my Redeemer, his wisdom and power are engaged on my behalf."

But it is

There is also the comfort of fellowship. The human soul has no equal on this earth. It may love green fields, but they cannot value its affection and return it; it may love the blue sky and the silvery star, but they cannot value its affection and return it; it may love the lower animals, but they can take no share in the problems of conscience, and shed no light upon the dark places of despair. The human spirit stands alone in this world, and there is nothing like it. The only companion it can recognize is the spirit of its fellow man. the nature of every finite being to want something above itself; so it is the nature of the human soul to want a communion, a fellowship that is not only its own equal, but its own superior. There is within the spirit of man an asking, an enquiring after a higher Spirit, to which it may look, and in which it may find communion and rest. And, oh ye that have found Christ, ye know the unutterable delight of having found a Friend, "a Friend that sticketh closer than a brother," a Friend who is brighter, higher, purer, and at the same time nearer than all friends; towards whom your aspirations may ever ascend, and find there all that light and elevation which can realize the expectations of your immortality. Blessed is that human bosom that knows the communion of the Father and the Son that knows the fellowship of a spirit upon earth, with the Spirit of our Father God. Here is real wealth and when once a man has experienced this fellowship, he can look around him at all he can see, and feel, whether he has it or not. "What are these in comparison

with thee, O Lord? I

have none upon earth that

I desire besides thee. Thou art all in all to me."

Then there are riches of glory. When you have no more

need of pardoning mercy, no more need of sanctifying grace, of the comforting Spirit, or the Word-when you have no more need of contending with the flesh or the world, no more need to triumph even over death, when the last conflict is past, and others have said, "I have left my wealth to my children, or to strangers," then you will say, "My wealth is opening; now I am coming to my estate; now I shall see what I am worth; now I shall begin to learn how much I have. I never before knew how much I had; I shall know it now." It is not for me to tell you what you shall have. Conceive to yourself a world with no drawbacks. Even this world, if it had all its advantages, and no drawbacks, what a heaven it would be. Then conceive a world absolutely without drawbacks, and not such a world as this, not a world that the Lord hath made for the residence of a poor, though innocent creature, but a world that he has made for his own residence, for the place of his glory, and the seat of his throne. The glory of the Lord shall enlighten it. Your eye can no more open upon it without seeing the glory of the Lord, than it can at this moment open without seeing the glory of the sun. You will have no more thought of out-flying his presence, than the swallow has of outflying the beams of light, or the eagle of outsoaring the glory of the heavens. There you may feel that though you may flee swift as the lightning, and far as thought will go, you will still be surrounded by the glory of the Lord, which is the light of that world. And as our light here has its centre and its seat, so will that light have its centre and its seat. You may be far away perhaps from your friends in heaven, but never far from God. Here we are often far from our friends on earth, but we are always within sight of heaven. At this moment the man who is away in Turkey or the East, and his child here

in England, cannot see each other without many a weary day intervening; but the same sun is shining upon the one and upon the other, and the same countenance can be seen by the eye of the father far away, and the eye of the child here. So that countenance will always be present there. "The Lamb will be the light of it, and the glory of the Lord will enlighten it." Conceive of this. Conceive yourself crowned by the Lord's own hand, possessed of what John calls one of the harps of God. Conceive yourself seeing every bright angel that ever served the Lord on high, every good man that ever followed Christ upon earth, hearing every sweet voice that ever sang the song of Moses and the Lamb, listening to every strange story of God's providence that ever occurred, every story of converting grace and redeeming love that ever took place, looking upon every countenance that is worth seeing, and then led by the Lamb himself to fountains of living waters, and crowned by him with a glory that fadeth not away, incorruptible and undefiled, reserved in heaven for you. Think of all this, and say, he that has this, has he not unsearchable riches? And all this is yours, if you are Christ's. Happy the man that has embraced Christ: rich is he whose treasure lies in a Saviour sought, a Saviour found, a Saviour now possessed.

My dear friend, are you rich, or are you poor? Say to thy soul, "Soul, soul, wake up! Soul, art thou provided for? Soul, hast thou much before thee to look to? Soul, hast thon enough to begin the world with the other world? Oh! blessed is the man whose soul can reply, "Yes, yes, all things are mine, for I am Christ's, and Christ is God's." Hold fast whereunto thou hast attained. As thou hast received the Lord Jesus, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him. But there are some-the soul is afraid to ask; there are others the soul is too

dead to ask; there are others—the soul is just awake enough to say "I am poor; I have nothing laid up; and if I were at this moment cast out of my body, I am positively ruined for ever." Then to you I preach unsearchable riches; to you I offer this day wealth that will never end, treasures that you can never exhaust. Be not poor. You need not be poor. Why should you die poor ? Christ is here in the midst of us, ready to make you all rich. You have lived poor too long, but oh! do not die poor. If you live any longer poor the danger is that you will die poor. Come this very day to Christ. You say, "I would give the world to find Christ-where may I find Him?" Here. "When may I find Him?" Now. "How may I find Him ?" By asking his mercy: by saying, "Lord Jesus, I want to be thine; I long that Thou shouldest be mine. Wash me from my sins in thy blood, and make me through thy merit a child of God." "The word is nigh thee even in thy mouth and in thy heart." You need not go up to heaven-you could not do that. You need not go down to the deep-you could not do that. "The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth and in thy heart." There is nothing more wanted, no going up, no going down, no going here or there. There is nothing needful to bring you to Christ but your own mouth and your own heart. "The word is nigh thee even in thy mouth and in thine heart. That is, the word of faith which we preach, for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Just lift your heart to believe, and just lift up your voice to pray Thus all that is needed is within your own person; Christ has brought his infinite riches: you have but to reach out your hand. Say not, "he must give the power," he will not withhold the power; he will surely give it, for he invites you; he does

give it freely; he invites you to come now.

Ask and receive, that your joy may be full. May the Lord grant that everyone of us may seek and find this treasure. Oh that this day, this hour, many of you may seek it: and such as do will bless God that they ever heard of the unsearchable treasure, and made it their own. May that be your case, and may it be mine! Amen.
