Then Pilate commande the body to be deliver -Matt. xxvii. 57, 58. And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.

Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.John xix. 39, 40.

XIX.

CHRIST'S RESURRECTION.

Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.

For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. -Ps. xvi. 9, 10.

He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.-Acts ii. 31, 32.

Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.-Is. xxvi. 19.

I know that my Redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh Ishall I see God:

Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another.-Job xix. 25-27.

For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:

But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.-Acts xiii. 36, 37. Why seek ye the living among the dead?

He is not here, but is risen.-—Lu. xxiv. 5, 6.

And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus.-Acts iv.

33.

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.-John xi, 25.

Now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first-fruits of them that slept.-1 Cor. xv. 20.

XX.

CHRIST'S ASCENSION.

Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them.-Ps. lxviii. 18.

And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.-Lu. xiv. 51.

So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.Mark xvi. 19.

Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.-Ephes. iv. 8.

XXI.

CHRIST SENDING THE HOLY GHOST.

And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams,

And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.— Lu. xxiv. 49.

your young men shall see visions :

And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. Joel ii. 28, 29.

And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. -Acts ii. 1, 4.

Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.-Acts ii. 33.

XXII.

CHRIST BRINGING SALVATION TO THE GENTILES.

Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Žebulun, and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan,

And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,

in Galilee of the nations.

The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.-Is. ix. 1, 2.

I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;

To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.-Is. xlii. 6,7.

I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.-Is. xlix. 6.

The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;

The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.-Matt. iv. 13 -16.

Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:

For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,

Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;

A light to light the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.Lu. ii. 29-32.

He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the Gospel to every creature.
