The Modern Language Review is the only periodical published in this country which is specially devoted to scholarship and research in Medieval and Modern languages and literature, and, as a necessary auxiliary to academical study, it claims the support of all those who are interested in these subjects. Attention is also called to the fact that English language and literature are receiving a very large share of space in the journal.

The contents of the Review vary according to the nature of the contributions received, but they may be classified generally under the following heads:

I. ORIGINAL ARTICLES, embodying the results of research or criticism in English and the modern Continental languages and litera

tures.

II. TEXTS AND DOCUMENTS, hitherto unprinted,

III. MISCELLANEOUS NOTES AND DISCUSSIONS.

IV. REVIEWS AND MINOR NOTICES of Books, the longer reviews, at least, being signed.

V. NOTES on matters of literary and scientific interest, of forthcoming publications, etc.

VI. Classified Bibliography of NEW PUBLICATIONS.

The collaboration of all interested in linguistic and literary research is invited, and contributions are not restricted to the English language. Contributors will receive twelve copies of their papers free. Additional copies may be had at cost price : communications respecting these (which should be ordered when the proof is returned) should be addressed to the University Press, Cambridge.

The annual subscription (for four numbers appearing in January, April, July and October) is 12s. 6d. net, post free, payable in advance, single numbers costing 4s. net. This subscription may be sent to any bookseller, or to Mr C. F. Clay, Cambridge University Press, Fetter Lane, London, E.C. The Journal will be supplied (post free)

to all members of the (English) Modern Language Association, at a special annual subscription, which must be paid in advance, of 7s. 6d., or, inclusive of membership of the association, 15s.
