In the broader meaning, cul ture stands for the development of all the faculties and gifts of the individual, independent of the manner in which it is brought about. True culture recognizes that our life has a spiritual interpretation, and sees the inter relation Of the spiritual to the material. Often the things that count for culture in the usual rendering of the word are wholly lacking in the acquirement of cul ture in its deeper Significance. All the various shades of meaning given the term, when Sifted down must stand for one of two things, real and artificial culture. The artificial leads into a labyrinth of perplexities. It is the real we have to do with.
