"I saw another messenger flying through the midst of heaven, having everlasting
good news to proclaim to the inhabitants of the earth, even to every nation, and tribe,
and tongue, and people; saying with a loud voice-Fear God, and give glory to him,
for the hour of his judgment has come; and worship him who made heaven, and earth,
and sea, and the fountains of water" (JOHN.)

INTRODUCTORY REMARKS.

THE mission of this periodical, in its monthly issues, is, we are assured by many of its friends, so far successful as to have already effected much good among the brethren by whom it has been cordially received. Along with several works of a similar character, it stands prominently forward in the advocacy of an immediate practical return to original Christianity, as propounded to the world eighteen hundred years ago by the specially inspired Apostles of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Its primary object, therefore, is, to invite and persuade all its readers to receive the Word of God in its integrity, as an all sufficient creed, for the illumination and salvation of men. The Bible being from God, its language is addressed to the inner man it speaks to the conscience and the heart, in tones which Infinite Wisdom has been pleased to dictate.

"This is the judge that ends the strife,

When wit and reason fail."

The religion of the New Testament is as simple in its character and development, as it is perfect in its adaptation to the condition of man as he exists on the earth; and when received in its fulness, and exemplified in conduct, it qualifies and prepares the believer for immortal happiness in the life beyond the grave, upon which the Saviour, as the Head of his called, chosen, and faithful people, has already entered. Marvellous, indeed, is the language which it employs in addressing fallen humanity: "It is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners"-" God so loved the world, as to give his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him might not perish, but have everlasting life" (John iii. 16.) The Old Testament writings were placed on record by Moses and the Prophets, for the instruction and guidance of those who lived under a former dispensation; but in these last days God hath spoken unto us by his Son, whom He hath appointed Heir of all things, and by whom also He made the universe. Thus we have the most emphatic testimony, that the positive institutions of that dispensation which are not embodied in the New Testament, are abrogated by a far more glorious revelation from Heaven. "This is my Son, the Beloved, in whom I delight," was the declaration of Jehovah : "hear him"-pre-eminently listen to his teachings, in contrast to the most consummate wisdom which may fall from human lips. The Gospel of Christ is now proclaimed to all nations, and the knowledge of salvation, in the remission of sins, is therefore fully made known. Our Heavenly Father is no respecter of persons. His beloved Son tasted death for every man, and, consequently, each and all will be raised from the dead to appear before the judgment seat of Christ. But to the obedient believer, the promise of eternal life is secured: for "in every nation, he that feareth God, and worketh
