29. St. Michael and all Angels.-COLLECT FOR THE DAY. O everlasting God, who hast ordained and constituted the services of Angels and men, in a wonderful order; Mercifully grant, that as thy holy Angels alway do thee service in heaven, so by thy appointment they may succour and defend us on earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

30. Lord, what is man, that thou hast such respect unto him; or the son of man, that thou so regardest him? Man is like a thing of nought: his time passeth away like a shadow. Ps. cxliv, 3, 4.

-It is sown in corruption: it is raised in incorruption: It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power; It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. 1 Cor. xv. 43, 44.

OCTOBER.

1. He shall be like a tree planted by the water-side: that will bring forth his fruit in due season.

Ps. i. 3. These are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirty-fold, some sixty, and some an hundred. Mark iv. 20.

2. Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee. Mark v. 19. I will give thanks unto thee, O Lord, with my whole heart: I will speak of all thy marvellous works. Ps. ix. 1.

3. He departed into a mountain to pray. Mark vi. 46.I have called upon Thee, O God: for Thou shalt hear me. Ps. xvii. 6.

4. From within, out of the heart of man, proceed evil thoughts. Mark vii. 21. Let the words of my mouth, and the meditations of my heart, be alway acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer. Ps. xix. 14, 15.

5. Whosoever shall lose his life, for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. Mark viii. 35.

-We which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. 2 Cor. iv. 11.

6. Master, it is good for us to be here. Mark ix. 5.- -Not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life. 2 Cor. vi. 4.

7. Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee. Mark x. 28.-As poor, yet making many rich.

8. There is no health in my flesh, because of thy displeasure: neither is there any rest in my bones by reason of my sin. Ps. xxxviii. 3.- -Godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of; but the sorrow of the world worketh death. 2 Cor.

vii. 10.

9. She of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living. Mark xii. 44.-To their power, I bear record, yea and beyond their power, they were willing of themselves. 2 Cor. viii. 3.

10. Make me a clean heart, O God; aud renew a right spirit within me. Ps. li. 10. -God is able to make all grace abound toward you. 2 Cor. ix. 8. 11. She hath done what she could. Mark xiv. 8. Not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth. 2 Cor. x. 18.

12. Their device is only how to put him out whom God will exalt. Ps. lxii. 4.And they cried out again, crucify him. Mark xv. 13.

13. These signs shall follow them that believe: In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents. Mark xvi. 17, 18.Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds. 2 Cor. xii. 12.

14. They were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord

blameless. Luke i. 6.- -This also we wish, even your perfection. 2 Cor. xiii. 9.

15. Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people, and hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David. Luke i. 68, 69.- -Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins. Gal. i. 3, 4.

16. She was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day. Luke ii. 37.—Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be alway praising thee. Ps. lxxxiv. 4.

17. All flesh shall see the salvation of God. Luke iii. 6.There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female; for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. Gal. iii. 28.

18. St. Luke.-Collect for THE DAY. Almighty God, who calledst Luke the physician, whose praise is in the Gospel, to be an Evangelist, and Physician of the soul; May it please thee, that, by the wholesome medicines of the doctrine delivered by him, all the diseases of our souls may be healed, through the merits of thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

19. O ye that love the Lord, see that ye hate the thing which is evil. Ps. xcvii. 10.- -In Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. Gal. v. 6.

20. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Luke vi. 36.—Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Gal. vi. 1.

21. And He said unto her, thy sins are forgiven. Luke vii. 48.-In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins. Ephes. i. 7.

22. He arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water and they ceased, and there was a calm. Luke viii. 24.-He maketh the storm to cease: so

that the waves thereof are still. Ps. cvii. 29.

23. And He sent them to preach the kingdom of God. Luke ix. 2.- -Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ. Ephes. iii. 8.

24. A certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was; and when he saw him, he had compassion on him. Luke x. 33. kind one to another, tender hearted. Ephes. iv. 32.

25. Ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord. Ephes. v. 8.-Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness. Luke xi. 35.

26. He that denieth me before men, shall be denied before the Angels of God. Luke xii. 9.- -That I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in bonds. Ephes. vi. 19, 20.

27. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved. Ps. cxxi. 3.—He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it unto the day of Jesus Christ. Phil. i. 6.

28. St. Simon and St. Jude.-COLLECT FOR THE DAY. O Almighty God, who hast built thy church upon the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the head corner stone; grant us so to be joined together in unity of spirit by their doctrine, that we may be made an holy temple, acceptable unto thee; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

29. Many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose

God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame. Phil. iii. 18, 19.— -O let not mine heart be inclined to any evil thing; let me not be occupied in ungodly works with the men that work wickedness, lest I eat of such things as please them. Ps. cxli. 4.

30. I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. Phil. iv. 11.—————A joyful and pleasant thing it is to be thankful! Ps. cxlvii. 1.

31. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks. Luke xvii. 15, 16.-My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord. Ps. cxlv. 21.

NOVEMBER.

1. All-Saints.-COLLECT FOR THE DAY. mighty God, who hast knit together thine elect in one Communion and fellowship, in the mystical body of thy son Christ our Lord: Grant us grace so to follow thy blessed Saints in all virtuous and godly living, that we may come to those unspeakable joys, which thou hast prepared for them that unfeignedly love thee; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

2. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. Luke xviii. 11.- The Lord shall root out all deceitful lips: and the tongue that speaketh proud things. Ps. xii. 3.

3. Whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men. Col. iii. 23.- I have set God always before me. Ps. xvi. 9.

4. They watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor. Luke xx. 20. -Many dogs are come about me: and the
