PREFACE. We have advanced another stage of our journey through the Christian year. Another volume of our work is brought to a close, and with like success. Our endeavours to help the Christian traveller along the old paths, where the shining footsteps of our forefathers in the faith may yet be traced, have met with no slight nor cold respond. In such success we discern a plain revelation of the growing love for the seasons and services of the Church. It was on this love that we built our hopes and made our venture; and we now rejoice to find that we erred rather in underrating than in over-rating its strength and increase.
